About Me

I'm a former elementary teacher living, gardening, blogging, and writing in Texas. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education, I taught art for seven years and truly loved it. As the economy tanked and the fine arts were being eliminated from the schools, I went back for my elementary endorsement to teach all subjects. I was immediately assigned to a third grade and within weeks I became so enamored of that wonderful group of eight year olds, I told them to let me teach that grade for the rest of my career. And they did!

I used my art to enrich all subjects but I harbored a secret desire to write stories and novels. When I was twelve I wrote my first novel, completely in red ink, called Crab Island. I wished I had saved it. As a teen I attempted and quickly tossed a romantic historical suspense having fallen in love with Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney.

During my teaching career I wrote short stories to aid in teaching, but I never tried to publish. I kept telling myself I didn't have the time, but mostly I just didn't know how to go about it or who to talk to for advice. It was easy to procrastinate and dream.

After retiring and moving to a new town, I became a member of the local Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. The membership in this wonderful organization told me not only could I publish after a lot of hard work, but just how to get started on that path. I began to write seriously, attend writing conferences, and joined critique groups. I began living the life of a writer and getting wonderful feedback on how to improve.

Being an avid reader of mysteries, suspense, and thrillers, I naturally dove into that genre. I found I also really liked writing short stories for adults and joined Sisters in Crime.

TOUGH LUCK, a young, (12 year old MC), Young Adult, suspense/thriller, e-book only, was released by Wings e-Press in January of 2012.

Earned Desserts, an adult suspense, is slated for publication in the Dreamspell Mystery Vol. 3, a mystery anthology by L&L Dreamspell.
