Today we woke up to thick fog, cool temperatures, and water dripping off the eves. It's the perfect atmosphere for writing a mystery/thriller taking place in the woods of Maine.

When the weather outside matches the weather in my settings, I can get a lot of work done. I really know the mood in my writer's mind has been set when the sudden shrill of the phone makes me jump.

  1. Perfect weather for writing a mystery. And you certainly were in the flow if the phone made you jump. ;)

  2. I love cooler weather. There's something about fog and water that screams horror/mystery. Hope it helped to make the words flow!

    1. Weather like that combined with the subject really makes me work longer and become more involved in what's happening--almost like reading a good book :)

  5. I hear you. We've had weather like that over the past few days. I imagined some creature lurking out in the murk. Today we had glorious sunshine.
