Yes, first draft definitely and she said she would be editing. I did NaNo last year and it was brutal. I can't imagine doing one in a week but she's trying it.
How the heck are you going to write a book AND blog in one week!
I could bang out a draft in one weekend, I think, but it'd be rough, and no longer than 25-30kw. I've thought about taking a vacation and writing a book in one week, but I'm pretty sure it would not turn out right. I have to let the story simmer too much.
Like a roast. That's what's in my head, I guess, roast beef. Cook it too fast and it suffers.
I just read Marie's post. I don't think I could do one in a week, but she has some good comments about just writing, writing, writing. And then I thought, well, a week isn't very long; maybe one calm week (if there is one), I'll give it a try just to see what happens.
Thanks for the link. And it's nice to see you again after my 9-day hiatus from blogging. My daughter and I did have a wonderful vacation. Ann
Try and let me know how it turns out! :O)
ReplyDeleteShe's into day 2 and already 23 pages and it's getting tough :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds insane! I thought Nanowrimo was hard! I have to go and have a look at her blog:)
ReplyDeleteA week!? Like doing one in a month isn't tough enough!
ReplyDeleteWe are talking first drafts, aren't we? Still, a week??

ReplyDeleteThat's amazing--I'm trying to do the math in my head, and...wow. Thanks for the info--I would've missed this fascinating tidbit :)

A week?! I could sure learn from her :-)
ReplyDeleteAn entire book in ONE week??? No way could I do it!
ReplyDeleteA week? Wow! I'll have to check out her blog. Thanks for the link. The fastest time I ever took to write a first draft was 3 months.
